A Brief History
Founded 1981 By Lyndon Tilbury ( Riff)
1981 Started as a market trader selling cheap footwear out of a Ford Escort
1983 Joined by Julie Thorne, now driving over 1000 miles a week in a Mercedes van and working markets and fairs all over the South of England.
1987 Julie's little brother Jason came on board and we added a large trailer to the poor old Mercedes.
1990 Opened Steptoes Dorchester, run by Julie, as Riff & Jason continue on the markets.
1993 Opened Steptoes Bridport and branched out into clothing.
1994 Gave up market trading.
 
2000 Riff & Julie got married.(And we all reckon they are still madly in love as you can plainly see at the Bristol Balloon Festival this year......shhh)
Since 94 we have worked hard to acquire top name brands and have moved into skate hardwear,sponsorship and involvement in various projects such as the indoor and outdoor skate parks in Bridport. We think we are the coolest shop in town and we have a large loyal group of customers and friends.
Riff and Jason hand over cheque to Steve Scott chairman of Dorchester Amateur Boxing Club.
Steptoes have undertaken to sponsor the clubs kit for the next 2 yrs.

Here is Riff with Magnus Backsted ( aka Magnus Backstedt )at the start of the Gent Wevelgem on 14/04/04.Magnus came second that day and went on to win the Paris Roubaix (The Hell Of The North) the next Sunday.
